Fast charging is a negotiation between three parts: the phone, the cable and the charger. The slowest of the three sets the speed, and it is almost always the charger you already own.
Read the fine print on the brick
The output rating is printed on the housing. A charger listing `5V/3A` maxes out at 15W no matter what your phone supports. To hit modern speeds you need one that lists a `PD` or `PPS` profile at the wattage you want.
Cables are rated too
A USB-C cable rated for 60W will refuse to carry 100W — correctly, because that is what the rating is for. Cables carrying more than 60W contain an e-marker chip. If your cable came free with a pair of earbuds, assume 60W.
GaN is genuinely better
Gallium nitride switches at higher frequencies than silicon, which means less heat and smaller components. A 100W GaN brick is roughly the size of an old 30W silicon one, and it will charge a laptop, a phone and a watch simultaneously.
What to buy
One 100W GaN charger with three USB-C ports replaces every brick in the drawer. Pair it with one 240W-rated braided cable per bag and you will never think about charging again.
