Six accessories worth owning, and four that are not

Most accessory spending is wasted. A little of it genuinely is not.

Phonfy editorial

We sell accessories, which makes this an awkward article to write honestly. We are going to write it anyway.

Worth it

A 100W GaN charger — replaces four bricks and charges a laptop.
A 240W braided cable — outlives three phones.
A 20,000 mAh power bank with a display — the display is the point; ambiguous LEDs are useless.
A case with a raised camera lip — the lens is the most expensive glass on the device.
A screen protector, applied properly — cheaper than the screen.
Open-ear buds for running — hearing traffic is not optional.

Not worth it

Branded cables at four times the price — the certification is what matters, not the logo.
Charging stands with fixed angles — you will use it for a week.
Camera lens attachments — the software profile is tuned for the built-in optics.
Anything advertising 'gaming' as a feature — it is a colour scheme.

The rule

Buy accessories that outlive the device. Skip the ones that only fit this year's model.
